Operation Solidarity – Day 85

to our friends,

here are two recommendations how you can easily get active – first, an art collective has made this page with leaked phone numbers of representatives of the putin regime. a simple variant to disturb the war logisticians a bit.
and secondly, here is a list of companies that are still cooperating with putin. any form of public pressure on the companies is certainly helpful.
furthermore, here is a relatively differentiated anarchist statement from finland against the desired entry of finland into nato – and in solidarity with the anarchist fighters in ukraine.

Operation Solidarity – Day 84

to our friends,

for today we want to share some thoughts about militarism, which we posted earlier on our social media channels.

Militarism. One can hear this word in almost every discussion about the war in Ukraine. Many in Europe today, while condemning Putin’s aggression, aren’t prepared to supply the Ukrainian resistance movement even with protective equipment, let alone arms, because this would be “militarism”. Without a doubt, war leads to an increase in military budgets, arms supplies are not always controlled, and, in general, weapons are always about death. It’s hard to disagree with this. But it is important to clarify that it wasn’t the Ukrainian people who chose this path. Weapons and military equipment are needed only to protect ourselves from the authoritarian regime which today razes cities to the ground and kills their inhabitants. The lack of weapons will not stop the war, but will only lead to more civilian casualties, kidnappings and torture in the occupied territories, a humanitarian catastrophe, and more waves of refugees.

The war in Ukraine, and rising tensions around the world, vividly demonstrate that the world really needs a new anti-war movement which would force all players to give up offensive weapons and nuclear arms. However, such a movement would be feasible only if Ukraine wins this war. The aggressor’s victory would l show everyone that, under the current dubious rules of the game, sufficient military resources and nuclear weapons are enough to win, and take us right back to the good old days of the arms race. The presence of an aggressor state, one that has achieved its goals through military means, will lead to an even more significant expansion of military budgets, an increased concentration of weapons at the borders of Russia and Europe, and a constant threat of world destruction in a nuclear war. This cannot be acceptable for any anti-war movement.

Operation Solidarity – Day 82

to our friends,

here is another report on what we use some of your donations for:

We continue to support trade unions whose members have gone to the frontline. Operation Solidarity handed over four Wouxun 9D plus radios to fighters from the tram workers’ union in the town of Kamianske in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, which is part of the Free Trade Union of Railway Workers of Ukraine.

also there was a nice solidarity action in italy:

We will stay here in support of peace and all people suffering from war,” declared the Italian leftists who have taken over the V-A-C palace in Venice owned by Russian oligarch Leonid Mikhelson. He is known to own the Novatek gas corporation.

About 100 people blocked the palace to protest against the war in Ukraine launched by Putin’s regime.

Protesters raise slogans against all imperialists and for the confiscation of the assets of the Russian elite.

Operation Solidarity – Day 81

to our friends,

for today we have this contribution from vice about one of the beautiful soli actions that took place in london.

To kick 4 anarchists out of the occupied mansion of pro-Kremlin Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska, London police carried out a special operation at a cost of £81,000.

On the 14th of March, anarchist squatters occupied a mansion linked to Oleg Deripaska. In a statement, the protesters said, «Russian oligarchs: You occupy Ukraine, we occupy you». They announced that the building was going to be used to open centres for refugees from Ukraine and people of all nationalities. But very soon the police carried out a massive operation to evict the anarchists, using 176 police officers, 9 police cars, a hoist and a helicopter.

VICE estimates the cost of such an operation to protect Deripaska’s mansion to be £81,112.10. Operation Solidarity have shared their thoughts with the British publisher on these funds, saying they could have been used to help a volunteer initiative in Ukraine.
